They are the largest member of the weasel
family. Average life span is 10 to 12
years. They can have up to 1,000,000
hairs per square inch. These hairs keep
them warm in the old water, hence they spend lots of time grooming their fur to
get rid of such things as oil. They are
shallow water coastal dwellers and mainly eat mussels, crab, fish, clams and
urchins. They will use a rock as a tool
to open hard shelled prey. (Enhydra
