Big Horn Sheep

Photographed at Zion National Park. (Ovis canadensis) These are the desert big horn sheep. They like hot desert ecosystems. Well adapted to climbing very steep terrain as indicated on one of my photographs. They graze on grasses and shrubs. Rams have huge horns that could weigh up to 30 pounds. Females (ewes) have smaller horns without the curvature.
