Musk Oxen

Are part of the goat family. These photos were taken at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center south of Anchorage on Seward Hwy near Girdwood. I have been there twice. About four years ago I tried to get reservations in Nome, AK after the Iditarod Dogsled Race. I wanted to get photos of some wild musk oxen in that area. All the rooms were still taken, so my friend Wilma who lives in Alaska suggested I go to the AWCC. They have a thick coat of fur called Qiviut which is harvested for scarfs and is one of the warmest materials to wear.
