Sea Otters

They are the largest member of the weasel family. Average life span is 10 to 12 years. They can have up to 1,000,000 hairs per square inch. These hairs keep them warm in the old water, hence they spend lots of time grooming their fur to get rid of such things as oil. They are shallow water coastal dwellers and mainly eat mussels, crab, fish, clams and urchins. They will use a rock as a tool to open hard shelled prey. (Enhydra lutris)
